So, It has been a while, and I have been reading in my studies (regarding 2d animation) that disney feature animation and other high-end animation studios don't care if you can draw cartoons. In fact, they really want animators to have experience in life-drawing!
OMG, so what does this mean for me?
I HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO DRAW PEOPLE (Including nude studies) NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Drawing people is something I absolutely LOATHE doing! I can't draw people too well, and this is honestly a big suprise! Why is it that disney wants animators that have life-drawing experience? Apparently, the claim is this: According to Richard Williams (The directing animator for 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'), Dont Bluth (Directing Animator for The Secret Of NIMH, And American Tale, The Land Before Time0, and various disney animators, life-drawing skills is extremely important for an animator to have. They claim that animators that don't know how to draw people are as useless as 5 year old crayon scribblers. I believe that it is for this particular reason: If you can draw people well, you can draw cartoons well. I can understand that. Not only that, but a lot of disney animations feature people anyway.
So, I guess this begins my long journey on the road to life-drawing. I hope I can perfect life-drawing within a few months. I have been doing it for about a month now, and I can draw people with correct proportions pretty decently now. I just need more time to perfect my ability. Hopefully, this means that I can release artwork with people in the future. I think that will be pretty cool.
Anyway folks, I hope you enjoy your school, because I am. East hollywood highs chool rocks, and I am getting plenty of time to do what I want/need to do for my future: Art.
